“Through my oil paintings I like to show the beauty of everyday objects, like a small flower, the color of a fruit or a morning walk in the mountains.”
About
Doris Brand is a fine artist born in Speyer, Germany in 1965, now based in George, South Africa along the scenic Garden Route. She moved to South Africa in 1985, living in Somerset West and Swellendam before settling in George.
In 2002, Doris and her husband, Leander Brand, founded Cape Palette Art Gallery in George. The gallery showcases her oil paintings and also serves as a creative hub, where Doris teaches painting and drawing classes to adults.
Specializing in oil painting, Doris occasionally explores mixed media to enrich her work. Her still life paintings focus on the subtle beauty of ordinary subjects—capturing light, texture, and emotion in a way that elevates the everyday. Inspired by her surroundings and personal moments, her art reveals a quiet, nature-driven perspective.
Since 2000, she has exhibited extensively in galleries and art festivals throughout the Western Cape. Doris continues to paint, exhibit, and mentor emerging artists through the Cape Palette Artist Studio.
